Alice in Wonderland is coming! The Tim Burton film will be out on 3/5/10 - my BiRtHdAy!! I am very excited about the prospect and considering having a Teaparty to celebrate and then getting a group together to go see the film!!! ..wanna come?

Also, wanted to share my latest project that I am working on to submit to the Nov challenge to Somerset Studio magazine.

This top picture is actually the "upside-down" bottom of the mushroom, on which the caterpillar sits......
...and this is the top of the mushroom, with a tiny tip of the caterpillar's tail in view.

magic

In my kitchen, I have crystals hanging from the skylight. At certain times of the day, the sun hits the crystals and rainbows are thrown all over the kitchen! It is a sight to see. If the door is open, the breeze makes the crystals sway and turn and the rainbows dance around..... m*A*G*I*c.....

Once upon a time, my daddy called me Pony.
As I was cleaning out my studio yesterday, I found several notes that he had written to me over the years and just seeing his handwriting gave me pause. In honor of the name that I treasure, the name my daddy gave me, I thought I would share my collection of "ponies" that I have put together over the years. Each one means something different to me and if you look closely, you will see the "polkadot" one in the back......

Fabric.....

As I started to clean out the studio, I found all these little bunting flags cut out - ready to stitch up. I wonder about fabric these days and what people who sew are looking for. It seems like it is very "trendy" for the most part...following the leader(s) who do such bold, bright, graphic patterns. I think that I tend to have more of an old fashioned view. I like the little patterns that work together to enhance a larger image, or create more of a traditional pieced quilt feeling. Delicate line drawings that you can get lost in - magical worlds. I guess that tends to be my style anyway, so why would I design anything different in fabric.

It would be nice to have a fresh perspective.... new eyes looking at it. Must I go larger? hmmm..

Tuesday morning and I worked out at the Pilates studio early. Now I am ready to tackle the day - cleaning up my studio! It is a goal that I have had all summer, but I now I must get it done. If I am going to give my new direction a real chance, I need to start with a clean slate. Here are the "before" shots. I hope to have the "after" shots by the end of the week. Wish me luck!

Day Two

This morning I made pancakes for my 14 year-old going off to his freshman year in high school. wow. He grew three inches over the summer, so is standing pretty tall (at 5'2 1/2") This photo is fairly recent, taken at one of our three family reunions in August (!) ...a great kid.....

Now, maybe I will get back to my own thing, figuring out what to be when I grow up.

My very first post on my very own blog!
I am not quite sure how to begin other than just starting to type out my stream-of-consciousness babble...
It seems like an interesting way to communicate, especially after being in the world of stationary and paper for so long. I will continue to be passionate about "writing letters" to post in the mail, but this reaches so many with so little effort....
...lazy? ...maybe so......

...and images that I have finally figured out how to load! wow! Isn't technology amazing?!

Here's to a few bits of inspiration and hopefully some "ah-ha" moments.
